ASL:
American Sign Language is a club that teaches us how to communicate with people that speak only by signs. I've learned how to sign the A-B-C's as well as formal and essential ways to greet someone and begin a friendship with someone who can not communicate verbally. Art Club:
In art club I experienced fundraisers, and food booths for our goal to attend a professional art museum. Although I wasn't able to attend a lot of meetings because I did not receive any notice at times I learned when to value art from a deeper meaning brought from the tone, color, shadow, sharpness, and contrast. Spanish Honors Society: During senior year, I was able to join the Spanish Honors Society for those whom have passed an AP Spanish exam or being enrolled in 3 spanish classes. Last year I passed the AP Exam for Spanish Literature which has opened this opportunity to participate in this honors club. Swimming: Swimming has been the best team building experience by far in my high school. I began swimming at the age of 11 and continued yearly for the last 6 years and it is great to know that I can help the team win points and meets. Last year I qualified for Division 2 valley which was a great experience as I was able to compete with the top swimmers of central valley. However the best thing is the team bonding throughout the season which unites 20 people for one purpose--Swim and win. Now my goal is to go to valley again but for an individual event this time. Soccer:
Soccer has been something I've enjoyed since my childhood and play for high school level was always one of my dreams. I attended 90% of conditioning, and practices before the season started however the season ended soon unfortunately because my body became sick with acute bronchitis from the cold weather. Therefore after that my interest in soccer diminished and now I am only focused in swimming. |

Adopt a Highway:
Every 3 months I help out in the adopt a highway community service. It is great for the environment and it gives me a sense of importance on the earth. I value the planet more from seeing how bad it is treated and it helps me work as groups to clean the 2.5 mile stretch.

Violin and Symphony:
Ever since I was in grade school I began private violin lessons and continued through high school. I am now in Suzuki Violin volume 3 which is an intermediate level in the mastery of the violin. I memorize classical pieces with shifts, flats, different time signatures, and vibrato to bring out the emotion of music. I also participated 4 semesters in the Tulare Youth Symphony where I had rehearsal for 2 hours every week which helped me balance my time with school work and music; something that will help throughout college. The Tulare Youth Symphony was not something easy to get it as they gave us hard pieces like the Washington Post March for the 1st violin and I had to audition in front of judges for 1 spot out of 8 spots in competition to many other great violists. In my last year in the Symphony I was placed second in the audition and played only behind the Concerto Master which was a huge responsibility that helped me practice more while being on pace on my classes. |
