Autobiography Narrative
When I was a small boy my mind was only looking upon playing and having fun just like any normal boy my age. However one day my grandfather opened a whole new world for me, during dinner, he gave me access to the world of knowledge through mathematics and science. This new concept of adding one number to another for a different result or that water is an oxygen molecule bonding with two hydrogen's caused me to be astonished. I would look forward to ask for his help in understanding these new concepts that I could not explain thoroughly.
In the moment I felt the safest, I had to face the harsh news that my grandfather was diagnosed with cancer. The most heartbreaking instant was not the fact he now had terminal cancer but the knowledge that I was destined to the loss of my biggest role model. It made me realize how his life, as fast as a flash, influenced many people to become educated and pursue a better life, and unknowingly it led me also to decide upon the goals in my future and the legacy I would bring this sphere of life. Ever since I can first remember my grandfather’s advice, lessons, and personal dedication for the people was manifested in my ambitions and aims for my life.
Thereafter, I was now 12 years old, I got so close to my grandfather, every night we would talk about education and his experiences as well as advices for me to pursuit my career. He challenged me to attain a PH.D. or something equal just like he was, I promised him I would. Knowing this I started to give more effort in everything that came to my way and it made me feel really happy when my grandpa would be proud of me and talk to all his students and friends about my achievements. The feeling of having your role model talking so good gives anyone a priceless feeling. However I soon saw him deteriorate more and more before one day he left to Mexico with his family.
I stayed home and even if I did not have my grandpa close by I still had the promise in my mind. It did not hit me that he was 6,000 miles away until I found out he was losing a lot of pounds and was not eating properly. After some tests we found out he had a 3 months of life expectancy leading us to drive directly to Mexico to seen him. The Idea, that he would leave earth, was troubling me and seeing him in bed without the capability to speak fluently I could not resist from crying. A lot of images of the time with my grandfather passed by in a flash and before his life ended I had one of the greatest moment with him that changed my life and dedication. I was having trouble with chemistry, during 10th grade, and I asked him for help. He was fast to be willing to help and even if it took him a long time to say a word he explained every question I had.
His willingness and dedication to help me when he was taking his last breaths touched my heart and has given me a huge impulse to become great as him. His positivity throughout rubbed off me and now every time a challenge occurs my sights are on him.
