This year feels like it will go fast, I am 3 weeks old being a senior, and I still have not settled completely about the reality that I am a senior. College and the future cannot be felt as close as now especially as I sit in my room writing this journal, with the graduation score “Pomp and Circumstance, Op. 39,” in my head. Success is just around the corner and I know although it is the last year at Lindsay High school I have to be stronger than any other year.
My schedule has to be one of the hardest in the whole school, 4 AP classes, Psychology, Physics, and Pre-Calculus, the first week I was indecisive on whether I should exchange a class for a less demanding class or not, however, I put in my mind the determination that I would complete all these classes with no less than a Level 4.0 because I know I can do it. Before starting school I had a lot of experience dealing with stressful nights doing homework so I decided to become more organized and bought a planner to keep me in check throughout the year as well as other tools that will help me reach my goals for the year. Fast forwarding, today was a milestone as we had the senior sunrise which continued with breakfast with a lot of the students from the same class which more and more make me believe that I am actually here, in real life, a 12th grade student ready for the next steps in life.
Senior year is not only about applying to college and attaining great grades but also about extra activities outside the classroom. One of the things I am looking forward the most is swimming season; the last year of competitive swimming. I’ve been swimming for 6 years now and knowing that this is my last one I want to make the most out of it and earn points for my high school team in my main event, 100yd. Breaststroke, so I can know that I gave it my all and got wins because of efforts. I am already planning to start training so I can qualify for valley in an individual and although it will be hard to balance school and physical activity it will pay off. One thing that is always in my mind is graduation which is the also one of the biggest things I am looking forward for this year. To be able to say, “I am done—I did it,” will be so priceless for me as countless days and nights were spent well to get me to this point. Being able to walk with my class mates, being the center of attention, and proudness of my family we make these 4 years so much worth it.
My short term goals is to have a successful SAT testing and achieve my goal for the test as well as attain a 4.40 GPA or higher for each semester like last year. For this to come true I have to keep my goals on my sight and not fall with distraction outside school. However I also have these goals not only because I want to graduate the highest as I can but because I want to achieve my main goal of becoming a Medical Doctor. The more efforts I give now, the easier my path will be for the future even if it is only by learning some key memorizing skills or efficient not taking strategies.
To round up everything, I am happy I am a senior. I have dreamt about this moment since I was in grade school and to see it happen in front of my eyes is spectacular. The one statement I want to finish off with is a notification to everyone that I am giving it my best this year.
